With Christmas shutdown periods heading our way as well as a few public holidays thrown in there, it’s important to understand exactly what you should be paying your employees over the break.
Generally casuals won’t receive any pay on public holidays nor for the shut down period but you must give them sufficient notice of the shutdown.
Full time staff may be required to take leave without pay if they don’t have enough entitlements accrued to cover your shutdown period.
