Avoiding Xmas Party HR Disasters.

The walk of shame on a Monday after the Xmas party can be tough going.

As employers you have a duty of care to your employees and this extends to work related events – such as Christmas parties.

Consider the following as you lead up to your party.

Remind your employees of your expectations and any HR policies you have in place. You aren’t being a wowzah – you’re being a responsible boss.

Cater for everyone – not everyone wants to booze heavily. Have you got enough food vs drink ratio?

Consider your bar tab and if it encourages binge drinking.

Make sure people have safe options for getting home.

Excessive drinking is not a defence for inappropriate harassment or behaviour.

Bosses need to ensure they are not on the end of the post Christmas party jokes on Monday morning.

Have fun with your staff. Stay safe.
